Presidents' Speeches reflection

Obama's Acceptance speech:
Contrary to what Brad had said I don't believe that Obama's speech was inspirational let alone very rememberable. I felt the speech in general was super safe, and was exactly what I had expected. I felt as though Obama was pandering to the American people while telling them about there greatness. As an outsider to the American political system as well as America in general the speech fell short and was unable to hold my interest. I was not engaged when he spoke of his wife and children, I was aware that he used this to humanize himself in front of the nation, but it was irrelevant to me whether he loved his wife or not. Though the majority of the speech in my opinion was dull I did enjoy the fact that he brought up issues in his speech. While he talked about healthcare and American dreams and their potential to come into flurition he had powerful emotion in his voice. Putting my thoughts on the speech aside I thought Obama once again was able to present volumes of passion in his words especially near the end. Obama has shown time and time again that the energy and passion he brings really resonates with the American people. Overall I felt the speech was ordinary, but very appropriate and was delivered expertly.

Mitt Romney's Concession speech:
Having watched Romney's speech second to Obama's, I feel as though this speech was far worse compared to Obama's. Both Obama and Romney have a certain way of speaking that lends itself to them being exceptional speech deliverers and speakers, and I did not see that from Romney in his concession speech. I feel as though the disapointment of losing was far greater then what he anticapated he would be feeling and that it took away from his charm. Obama's speech had power behind his words where as Romney's felt almost half hearted and it felt as though he was going through the motions trying to get the speech over with. The whole time Romney looked stagnant and withdrawn. In conclusion I would say in comparison to Obama's speech it was far more Ordinairy and boring, and he had not used his charm nor his passion to fuel his words when adressing America.

Presidential Speech Reflection

Obama’s speech was powerful for two main reasons. Firstly because of his powerful expression that inspired the audience and secondly because he incorporated so many issues into the speech.  When he began an issue such as healthcare he began slowly and only emphasized a few words but later on he would be speaking with a lot more emotion.  He did this throughout the speech on most of the issues but as he was finishing he exploded with energy, which also caused the audience scream and chant louder.  Everybody was so focused on him because he was trying to appeal to everybody by speaking a little on most topics.  By talking about all of the different issues he got the entire audience involved and everybody was happy because they now think he will solve their problems.  He did not even exclude the Republican voters in his speech.  By talking shortly about working with Romney is gives the impression that he will work to address their issues as well as the issues that matter to the democrats.

Romney’s speech was very different than Obama’s but was also very impressive.  He mostly thanked his family, campaign workers, colleagues, and the people who voted for him but he also spoke of how he would continue to work to make America a better country.  Romney spoke differently than Obama in that he was not trying to inspire change.  He spoke to a more select audience that was directed to more Republicans than the nation and he speech did not make him sound as important as Obama’s did. Romney’s speech was more humble and it made him seem more human and relatable than his other speeches.  His speech was a good way for him to end the presidential campaign because it showed a side to him that many people did not see during the race.

Obama And Romney And Illuminati And Reptilians

Obama's acceptance speech :
Barack Obama, a man's man, has been re-elected, and is back in office for 4 more years. The acceptance speech that he delivered was inspirational and sincere. I believe that Obama is a very strong speaker, and uses alot of real life examples to connect with people. He thanks all the citizens of the U.S for voting, even if it wasn't for him, but for Romney. He says things such as " what makes America exceptional, are the bonds that hold together the most diverse nation on earth". Obama's speech was very well done. He showed emotion, and in my opinion, had the viewer entranced with the way he talked. The tone of his voice, and the way he used hand gestures was phenomenal.

Romney's concession speech:
Although Romney said that he is happy for Obama, he didn't look like he meant it. His speech was very dry, His voice very monotone, And the way he delivered it wasn't very enthusiastic. I can understand that he wasn't  happy, as the elections were very close, and it could've went both ways. I heard that he believed he was going to win so he didn't prepare a concession speech. If this is true, i believe that it was very unsportsmanlike, and i am glad that he didn't get voted in. I for one, would not want someone like him being in control.

Presidents' Speeches Assignent - Brad Bourne

Presidents' Speeches
Obama's Acceptance Speech

Obama's inspirational speech is one that will be remembered for years to come. His speech is one that will be cherished by many Americans as the speech appealed to so many people about how great it is to be an American. Right from the beginning of his speech, when he opened with an important moment in American history, to when he said thing like "it is not what can be done for us, its about what can be done by us" (16:34) which made his speech so effective. I think his referencing to how America is like a giant family contributed greatly to how appealing his speech was to Americans such as when he said "some of you are new this time around, and some of you have been at my side since the beginning, but all of you are family" (8:00) or when he talks about Americans coming together in a time of need (18:06), as well as America's diversity (17:06). Another thing which made his speech so effective was his eye contact (he did not look down at the podium even once and scanned the audience as if he were trying to make eye contact with as many people as possible) as well as his hand gestures which made it seem like he really believed in what he was saying. I really liked how he used some sarcasm in his speech such as when he was only going to allow his daughters to have one dog (7:24) and how he thanked his family and party members and acknowledged the opposition, which shows he is a thoughtful person. All in all I think Obama's Speech was more effective, better prepared, better written, more convincing, and all around better then Romney's.

Romney's Concession Speech

After watching Obama's speech I can see that Romney's speech was not quite at the same level, though I have heard that Romney wrote his speech last minute as he was not expecting to lose the election. I thought it was nice that he gave his thanks and congratulations to everyone who was in and contributed to the election but I also thought he looked a bit uneasy, uncomfortable and unconfident (which is understandable since he just lost the election). I also felt that due to his absence of hand gestures made his speech seem a bit hollow as I felt he did not really believe in what he was saying and was merely doing his political duty. I also found it sort of weird that his speech was only about five minutes long and over half of those five minutes was him thanking and congratulating people, which leads me to believe that he may have written his speech in a very short amount of time. In my opinion Romney's speech was not as good as Obama's.
